It is harder to crack a prejudice than an atom.

On this website the role of semantics in computer science and possibility of its practical applications have been presented from a subjective point of view.

Semantics is a branch of linguistics studying the meaning of words, sentences and texts. It is also a significant part of computer science since thanks to it computers can process texts written in natural languages, and in the future possibly understand them. The latter application with reference to the Internet is known as the Semantic Web.

In particular the idea of building a centralized database of specialist and everyday life knowledge using Web 2.0 has been presented. Thanks to such a database it would be possible to immediately obtain credible answers to even very detailed questions. It could be used for example to choose the best product according to user's preferences. Thus despite the fact that the database would be build in a different way than the Semantic Web is currently planned to be build it could be used for the same purpose.

The website contains also the description of building a thesaurus for a controlled vocabulary used in Polish scientific libraries.

Marketing 3.0 - the above idea narrowed to marketing
